These are just a few of the promises made in the early days of the public cloud—and they have been delivered.
While the public cloud offers many benefits, it also comes with caveats: security risks, compliance and data sovereignty concerns, vendor lock-in, and cost management. In some cases a private cloud can be a better fit — with a bit more work you can still achieve comparable automation and control.
My Background
My career as a hosting and technical application engineer introduced me to both private and public cloud technologies early on. I have primarily worked with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure and have hands-on experience with a broad range of services within these ecosystems.
I have supported diverse workloads, from high-traffic public websites to complex backend data-processing services and databases.
Infrastructure as Code
Infrastructure changes should be predictable, repeatable, auditable, and testable. For this reason, I use Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to build, and manage cloud environments.
