My Career
I have been working in IT since 2001. I began my career as a computer technician and quickly transitioned to the application layer. Throughout my career, I have worked closely with—and within—development teams, with a focus on both infrastructure and application layers.
A significant part of my early career was spent working with well-known online brands in the Netherlands, such as Funda, AutoTrader, and Jumbo Supermarkten. The demands of these platforms—particularly around flexibility and scalability—led me to adopt public cloud technologies early on, including AWS and Azure. At the time, we were implementing cloud and DevOps practices before they became industry standards.
I have since migrated numerous platforms to the cloud and designed and built cloud-native solutions, working both as an engineer and as a solution architect.
In recent years, I have worked with large enterprises, including organizations in the financial and aerospace sectors. Currently, I am particularly passionate about Kubernetes, as it brings together all aspects of modern infrastructure and software development and requires broad, cross-disciplinary expertise.

Characteristics
I have strong analytical skills and a keen eye for improving technical solutions, teams, and processes. I can easily move between high-level abstraction—such as IT vision, organizational design, and stakeholder management—and low-level technical execution, including Infrastructure as Code and hands-on troubleshooting.
I take a proactive approach to my work, ensuring projects receive the attention they require and frequently contributing new, valuable ideas to the team and the backlog. I am broadly oriented, pragmatic, and a collaborative team player who values creativity and continuous improvement.
Private Life
I live in Nistelrode with my wife, our two children, and two dogs—a Jack Russell Terrier and an Australian Cattle Dog. I enjoy hiking with my dogs and photographing nature and wildlife, particularly reptiles, amphibians, and birds.
During the winter months, I enjoy experimenting in my home lab, where I run a Proxmox hypervisor cluster, multiple Kubernetes clusters, Longhorn distributed storage, Home Assistant, and many other components. Naturally, everything is managed using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and GitOps practices with Argo CD.
Living in Noord-Brabant, I am also a “Bourgondier” at heart. I enjoy cooking over an open fire (African braai), low-and-slow cooking on a Kamado, and tasting special brews.
